Students are not allowed to be absent for more than 45 days in one academic year, whether for permitted or unpermitted absences. If this number of days is exceeded, students will not be promoted.
Therefore, students are allowed to take a maximum of 45 permitted leave days in one academic year.

Based on Article 12, Regulation on the Evaluation, Ranking of Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary Students issued together with Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT:

....
Hence, there is no regulation stating that students must join make up classes for permitted absences. However, it has been committed by the students that they will make up for the missed lessons and complete the assignments when writing the leave application.
Therefore, this is a responsibility that students need to self-consciously fulfill after taking leave by borrowing notebooks from friends and asking peers about the missed lessons. Even better, students should actively seek out online resources to revisit the teachers' lectures to reinforce knowledge.
