How often is the school-level excellent teacher competition held in Vietnam?

Based on Article 3 of the Regulation on excellent teacher competitions for preschool educational institutions, homeroom teachers for public educational institutions, issued alongside Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT, the organization levels, cycle, and participants of the Competition are stipulated as follows:

Levels of organization, cycle, and participants of the Competition

  1. The competition for excellent teachers, excellent homeroom teachers at the school level, district level, and provincial level:

a) The excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition at the school level is held every two years, organized by the school. Participants in the competition are teachers working at the school organizing the competition;

b) The excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition at the district level is held every two years, organized by the education and training department. Participants in the competition are teachers working at preschool, primary, and secondary educational institutions in the district (urban district, district-level town, provincial city) organizing the competition;

c) The excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition at the provincial level is held every four years, organized by the department of education and training. Participants in the competition are teachers working at preschool and public educational institutions in the province, municipal city directly under the Central Government organizing the competition.

  1. The number of teachers participating in the excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition at all levels is decided by the principal of the preschool, kindergarten, nursery school; principal of the public educational institution; head of the education and training department; director of the department of education and training according to the management decentralization, ensuring suitability with the actual situation, available facilities, and the annual local budget.
  1. The head of the education and training department specifies the number of preschool teachers participating in the school-level competition for independent child groups and independent kindergartens.

Therefore, the school's excellent teacher competition is held every two years. Participants are teachers working at the school organizing the competition.

When is a teacher recognized as an excellent teacher in Vietnam?

Based on Article 5 of the Regulation on excellent teacher competitions for preschool educational institutions, homeroom teachers for public educational institutions, issued alongside Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT, the recognition of the title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher is as follows:

Recognition of the title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher

1. Teachers are recognized as excellent teachers, excellent homeroom teachers, and awarded certificates by the organizing authority when they participate in all the contents of the excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition and meet the requirements as prescribed regarding the evaluation of the competition results according to each level as stipulated in Article 17 of this Regulation.

  1. The title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher shall be retained as follows: The title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher at the school level shall be retained for one year following the year of recognition as an excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher at the school level; the title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher at the district level shall be retained for one year following the year of recognition as an excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher at the district level; the title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher at the provincial level shall be retained for three years following the year of recognition as an excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher at the provincial level.
  1. The title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher retained is not to be used as a criterion for participation in the excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition at any level.

Therefore, teachers are recognized as excellent teachers when they participate in all the contents of the excellent teacher competition, excellent homeroom teacher competition, and meet the requirements as prescribed regarding the evaluation of the competition results according to each level.

What is the purpose of the excellent teacher competition in Vietnam?

Based on Article 2 of the Regulation on excellent teacher competitions for preschool educational institutions, teachers recognized as excellent homeroom teachers in public educational institutions issued alongside Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT, the purpose of the excellent teacher competition is as follows:

- Discovering, recognizing, and honoring teachers who achieve the title of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher, and spreading exemplary models, contributing to attracting the attention of social forces to participate in educating children and students, creating motivation for developing the educational career of each locality and the entire education sector;

- Creating motivation for teachers to strive, improve themselves, meet the requirements of innovation, improve educational quality, and develop their profession;

- Contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of professional activities and promoting teaching and learning movements in schools; encouraging, motivating, creating opportunities for teachers to train, self-study, innovate, learn, exchange, convey, and disseminate experiences in care, nurturing, and educating children for preschool teachers; in teaching and homeroom work for public educational institution teachers.
