c) Victory Day: 01 day (the 30th of April of the Gregorian calendar);

d) International Labor Day: 01 day (the 1st of May of the Gregorian calendar);

dd) National Day: 02 days (the 2nd of September of the Gregorian calendar and the previous or next day);

e) Hung Kings Commemoration Day: 01 day (the 10th of the third month of the Lunar calendar).

2. Foreign employees in Vietnam are entitled to 01 traditional public holiday and 01 National Day of their country, in addition to the public holidays stipulated in Clause 1 of this Article.

3. The Prime Minister shall decide the specific public holidays mentioned in Point b and Point dd Clause 1 of this Article on an annual basis.

Weekly breaks

1. Each week an employee is entitled to a break of at least 24 consecutive hours. Where it is impossible for the employee to have a weekly day off due to the work cycle, the employer has the responsibility to ensure that on average the employee has at least 04 days off per month.

2. The employer has the right to determine and schedule the weekly breaks either on Sunday or for another fixed day in a week, which must be recorded in the internal labor regulations.

Under Article 1 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024:

Issuance of the framework for the 2024-2025 academic year plan for preschool, general education, and continuing education nationwide:

1. The earliest school opening date is set 1 week before the official commencement ceremony. For first graders, the earliest start date is 2 weeks prior to the commencement ceremony.

2. The commencement ceremony is organized on September 05, 2024.

3. The first semester ends before January 18, 2025, and the school year is completed before May 31, 2025.

4. The recognition of completion of primary education and graduation from lower secondary education is conducted before June 30, 2025.

5. Enrollment for the first classes of all educational levels is completed before July 31, 2025.

6. The national high school exam 2025 is scheduled to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.

7. Other national-level exams are organized as per the Ministry of Education and Training’s guidelines and regulations.

Under Decision 3089/QD-UBND 2024 dated August 08, 2024:

- Public holidays are regulated by the Labor Code 2019 and if they coincide with the weekly break, compensatory time off will be provided during the next working day. School principals proactively develop suitable educational plans for their units conformable to the provisions in Article 111 of the Labor Code 2019:

Weekly breaks
