Based on Article 9 of the Regulation on the organization and operation of Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued under Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the provision on the age for completing studies at Athletic Aptitude High Schools is as follows:

Evaluation, grading, class advancement and age for completing studies at Athletic Aptitude High Schools

1. Evaluation, grading, class advancement, and admission examinations to universities, colleges, and intermediate schools for students at Athletic Aptitude High Schools shall be implemented according to regulations as for students in general high schools.

2. Evaluation and grading of sports talents.

a) Regular evaluation and grading of sports talents for gifted students are directly assessed by the teacher of the respective talent subject.

b) Periodic evaluation and grading conducted by the teacher directly teaching the talent and the Evaluation Council according to the general school plan. The Evaluation Council is decided by the Principal.

3. Students at Athletic Aptitude High Schools who are sent to long-term training or competitions, and cannot meet the time, content, and score of cultural subjects, will have supplementary teaching and tests organized by the school, ensuring that students learn the entire program content as stipulated.

4. Students participating in long-term overseas competitions or training at national sports training centers and unable to attend class advancement exams, grade transitions, and graduation exams will receive preferential policies in accordance with regulations.

5. Students who receive gold, silver, or bronze medals in national or international sports competitions or achieve athlete status from level 1 or higher will receive preferential policies when advancing grades, transitioning levels, and taking entrance exams to universities, colleges, and intermediate schools according to regulations.

6. The age for completing school at Athletic Aptitude High Schools is not more than 20 years.

From the above regulation, the age for completing studies at Athletic Aptitude High Schools is not more than 20 years. Therefore, individuals who are 20 years old or older cannot study at Athletic Aptitude High Schools.

What are regulations on the study program of Athletic Aptitude High Schools in Vietnam?

Based on Article 6 of the Regulation on the organization and operation of Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued under Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the provision regarding the study program of Athletic Aptitude High Schools is as follows:

- Annually, at the beginning of the school year, the school constructs a teaching and studying plan for cultural subjects for each grade level and class, and a training plan for each sports talent subject that is scientific, suitable, ensuring completion of the general education program and development of the students' sports talents.

- The study program for cultural subjects at Athletic Aptitude High Schools is implemented in accordance with the current general education program of the Ministry of Education and Training and is subject to direct state management by the Department of Education and Training.

- The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directly manages and approves the sports talent training plan of the school based on the industry’s, local development plans, and the Vietnam high-performance sports development strategy issued by the Government of Vietnam.

- Plans for training, competing in sports tournaments suitable for age groups to assess the training process, and the level of sports talent development of students are devised.

- The school organizes various educational activities to achieve comprehensive education goals for students.

What are the duties of the principal and vice principal of Athletic Aptitude High Schools in Vietnam?

According to the provisions in Article 10 of the Regulation on the organization and operation of Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued under Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the duties and powers of the Principal and Vice Principal of Athletic Aptitude High Schools are as follows:

Firstly, duties and powers of the Principal include:

- Implementing tasks and powers as specified in the Charter of primary schools, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and schools with multiple levels issued by the Minister of Education and Training.

- Organizing the management and effective use of assets, facilities, specialized equipment serving the training and coaching of students in sports. Organizing the management and directing the potential and intelligence of public employees, teachers, and students in teaching, coaching, training, studying to improve specialized training quality and develop students' sports talents.

Secondly, duties and powers of the Vice Principal include:

- Carrying out tasks and powers as specified in the Charter of primary schools, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and schools with multiple levels currently issued by the Minister of Education and Training.

- Assisting the Principal in organizing, executing, and implementing tasks to achieve the school’s objectives in accordance with the fields of work assigned by the Principal and being responsible to the Principal for the quality and progress of assigned work.
