Vietnam to amend description of used consumer goods banned from import

On March 31, 2023, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam promulgated Circular No. 08/2023/TT-BCT on amendments to Vietnam’s Nomenclature of Exports and Imports, which contain changes to the description of used consumer goods banned from import.

According to the Circular, Appendix I - List of Used Consumer Goods, Medical Equipment, and Vehicles Banned from Import prescribed in Article 3 of Circular No. 12/2018/TT-BCT is replaced with Appendix I promulgated together with Circular No. 08/2023/TT-BCT.

According to the replacement Appendix I, changes to the goods description of several goods codes are as follows:  

- Code 5208: Woven fabrics of cotton, with a content of cotton by mass of at least 85%, quantifying no more than 200 g/m2.

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of cotton yarn, with a density of at least 85%, weighing no more than 200g/m2)

- Code 5209: Woven fabrics of cotton, with a content of cotton by mass of at least 85%, quantifying more than 200 g/m2.

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of cotton yarn, with a density of at least 85%, weighing more than 200g/m2)

- Code 5210: Woven fabrics of cotton, with a content of cotton by mass below 85%, blended mainly or solely with man-made fibers, quantifying no more than 200 g/m2.

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of cotton yarn, with a density below 85%, blended mainly or solely with man-made fibers, weighing no more than 200g/m2)

- Code 5211: Woven fabrics of cotton, with a content of cotton by mass below 85%, blended mainly or solely with man-made fibers, quantifying more than 200 g/m2.

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of cotton yarn, with a density below 85%, blended mainly or solely with man-made fibers, weighing more than 200g/m2)

- Code 5512: Woven fabrics of synthetic staple fiber, with a content of synthetic staple fiber by mass of at least 85%.

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of synthetic staple fiber, with a density of the synthetic staple fiber of at least 85%)

- Code 5513: Woven fabrics of synthetic staple fiber, with content of synthetic staple fiber by mass below 85%, blended mainly or solely with cotton, quantifying no more than 170 g/m2

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of synthetic staple fiber, with a density of the synthetic staple fiber below 85%, blended mainly or solely with cotton, weighing no more than 170g/m²)

- Code 5514: Woven fabrics of synthetic staple fiber, with content of synthetic staple fiber by mass below 85%, blended mainly or solely with cotton, quantifying no more than 170 g/m2

(Previously, it was woven fabrics of synthetic staple fiber, with a density of the synthetic staple fiber below 85%, blended mainly or solely with cotton, weighing more than 170g/m²).
