Vietnam: Measures to prevent waste incidents in the period of 2023-2030

Below is the content at Decision 146/QD-TTg dated February 23, 2023 on the National Plan to respond to waste incidents for the period of 2023-2030 promulgated by the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

In which, measures to prevent waste incidents in the period of 2023-2030 in Vietnam are set out, including:

- Consolidating the directing organization for combining full-time and part-time forces to perform waste management, prevention, response, and remedy tasks in Vietnam.

- Examining, inspecting, and strictly enforcing waste management and treatment regulations in industrial parks, export processing plants, factories, craft villages, and so on; improving incident monitoring, warning, notification, and alarming capacity from the central to the local level.

- Increasing collaboration in high-quality human resource training, scientific research, and technology transfer; exchanging information; and learning from experience in forecasting, warning, responding to, and overcoming waste incidents.

- Investing in the acquisition of equipment, supplies, and materials to improve the prevention and response capacity of forces at all levels, from central to local.

- Directing the development of a waste incident response plan close to reality with the region, region and locality. Organizing training and professional skills training for full-time and part-time forces; organizing drills and sports festivals; promoting information and communication to raise awareness and responsibility for all levels, sectors, and communities in preventing, responding to, and overcoming the consequences of waste incidents and disasters in Vietnam.

Improving the efficiency of coordination and synergies between ministries, branches, and localities in leading, directing, inspecting, and supervising; guiding the implementation of the prevention, response, and remedy of waste incidents and disasters.
