Guidelines for Self-Test at Home for Suspected HIV Infections
Le Hai

On April 27, 2018, the Ministry of Health issued Decision 2674/QD-BYT providing national guidelines for HIV testing.

A notable point in this Decision is the guidance content on self-testing for the individuals being tested. The self-testing is conducted as follows:

- Step 1: Collect samples by taking oral fluid and blood from the fingertip.- Step 2: Conduct the self-test. The individual being tested follows the manufacturer's instructions recorded on the test devices to carry out the test.- Step 3: Self-read the results. The test results conducted by the individual being tested are for initial screening purposes only and should not be used for HIV diagnosis.

Note, the method of sample collection is carried out according to the guidelines in this Decision.

Refer to detailed guidance content in Decision 2674/QD-BYT effective April 27, 2018, replacing Decision 1098/QD-BYT, Decision 1053/QD-BYT, and Decision 868/2005/QD-BYT.
