CPTPP Agreement “Impact” on Codes and Laws of Vietnam

The National Assembly has just passed Resolution 72/2018/QH14 regarding the ratification of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and related documents (abbreviated as the CPTPP Agreement).

To fulfill the commitments under the CPTPP Agreement according to the correct schedule, the following Codes and Laws need to be amended and supplemented:

- Labor Code 2012: Amendments to allow the establishment of worker representative organizations not affiliated with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor;- Intellectual Property Law 2005 (amended and supplemented in 2009): Removal of the condition for contract registration to be effective against third parties;- Criminal Code 2015 (amended and supplemented in 2017): Adding provisions for handling acts related to fake labels and packaging;- Criminal Procedure Code 2015 (amended and supplemented in 2017);- Insurance Business Law 2000 (amended and supplemented in 2010);- Food Safety Law 2010;- Anti-Corruption Law.

Resolution 72/2018/QH14 was passed by the XIV National Assembly, 6th session on November 12, 2018.
