Supplementary regulations on textbook appraisal in Vietnam from February 9, 2025

The Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam promulgates Circular 26/2024/TT-BGDDT dated December 25, 2024, amending the Regulations on standards, procedures for compiling, editing textbooks; standards for organizations and individuals compiling textbooks; organization and activities of the National Council for Textbook Evaluation attached to Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT which have been amended according to Circular 23/2020/TT-BGDDT and Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT.

Supplementary regulations on textbook appraisal in Vietnam from February 9, 2025

Circular 26/2024/TT-BGDDT has added Article 17 to Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT regarding the appraisal of textbooks as follows:

- The dossier requesting the appraisal of revised textbooks includes:

+ The application for appraisal of revised textbooks must be made according to the form prescribed at point a, clause 1, Article 17 of Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (amended in clause 8, Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT);

+ The sample revised textbook proposed for appraisal;

+ An explanation of the sample revised textbook proposed for appraisal, including: the textbook's name; the details that have been revised with reasons; the process and results of any testing (if any); any other related information (if any);

+ The scientific curriculum vitae of the chief editor, editors, authors, and any additionally included information (if any);

+ In the case of the sample revised textbook requiring re-appraisal, the dossier requesting appraisal shall follow clause 2, Article 17 of Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT.

- The quantity of dossiers, the timeline for receiving dossiers requesting textbook appraisal, re-appraisal of textbooks, revision textbook appraisal:

+ The quantity of dossiers requesting textbook appraisal, re-appraisal of textbooks, revision textbook appraisal corresponds to the number of members in the National Council for Textbook Appraisal;

+ The timeline for receiving dossiers requesting textbook appraisal and revision textbook appraisal is in May of each year. The timeline for receiving dossiers for re-appraisal is in September of each year.
