Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 157/2018/ND-CP stipulating the regional minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts. Notably, in this Decree, there is an adjustment to the localities applying the regional minimum wage for the year 2019.
To be specific, Decree 157/2018/ND-CP has supplemented Cat Hai and Kien Thuy districts of Hai Phong City; Dau Tieng and Phu Giao districts of Binh Duong province; the district-level town of Phu My in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province into the List of localities in Region I applying the new regional minimum wage (currently, according to Decree 141/2017/ND-CP, these localities fall under Region IV). From January 1, 2019, the regional minimum wage applied to workers working in enterprises in these localities will be VND 4,180,000/month.
In addition, Decree 157 has also adjusted some localities between regions as follows:
- Le Thuy, Quang Ninh, Bo Trach, Quang Trach districts and the district-level town of Ba Don in Quang Binh province; Tan Phuoc district in Tien Giang province from Region VI up to Region III.
- Gia Binh and Luong Tai districts in Bac Ninh province, Chau Thanh district in Tien Giang province from Region III up to Region II.
The regional minimum wage in 2019 applied to employees working in enterprises in each region is specifically provided in Decree 157:
- Region I: VND 4,180,000/month;- Region II: VND 3,710,000/month;- Region III: VND 3,250,000/month;- Region IV: VND 2,920,000/month.
