Recently, Hanoi Social Insurance issued Official Dispatch No. 593/BHXH-CST in 2017 regarding the quantity of health insurance cards (HI cards) registered for initial medical check-ups and treatment at HI medical facilities.

Based on the aggregation of health insurance card registrations for initial medical examination and treatment at healthcare facilities, some healthcare facilities have exceeded the maximum number of health insurance cards that can be registered according to the regulations specified in Joint Guidance 2616/HD-YT-BHXH.
In order to ensure proper initial medical examination and treatment registration for eligible groups, the Social Insurance of districts, district-level towns, and professional departments are requested not to accept new increases and changes in initial medical examination and treatment registrations to healthcare facilities that have exceeded the allowed quota (except for the elderly, people with meritorious service, children under 6 years of age, retired officials in 2017 residing in areas with healthcare facilities). At the same time, guide health insurance participants and employers to register for initial medical examination and treatment at health insurance healthcare facilities that have not exceeded the number of cards as per the principles set forth in Joint Guidance 2616/HD-YT-BHXH.
