What are requirements for equipping lifesaving equipment on passenger vessels in Vietnam?

Circular 15/2018/TT-BGTVT was issued by the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam on the National Technical Regulation on Marine Safety Equipment - 1st amendment in 2017 with registration code: 1st amendment: 2017 QCVN 42:2015/BGTVT. This document takes effect from December 1, 2018.

According to the regulations in the Standard issued along with Circular 15, passenger vessels in Vietnam must meet the following lifesaving equipment requirements:

Operational Area Tonnage Equipment Requirement
Grade III Restricted Ship GT < 300 Liferafts or buoyant apparatus with a capacity of each side equal to 55% of the total persons
300 ≤ GT < 500 Liferafts with a capacity of each side equal to 75% of the total persons
GT ≥ 500 Liferafts with a capacity of each side equal to 100% of the total persons
Grade II Restricted Ship

GT < 500

n ≤ 300 persons

Liferafts with a capacity of each side equal to 75% of the total persons

GT < 500

n > 300 persons

Liferafts with a capacity of each side equal to 100% of the total persons
GT ≥ 500 Liferafts must be equipped as required in 2.3.1-1(4)(a) to (d)
Unrestricted Ship GT < 300 Liferafts with a capacity of each side equal to 100% of the total persons
300 ≤ GT < 500 Liferafts must be equipped as required in 2.3.1-1(4)(a) to (d)
GT ≥ 500 Equipped as for passenger vessels on short international voyages in 2.3.1-1(2)(a) to (d)
