Vietnam: Sanctioning violations against provision on certificates of radiological workers

On September 20, 2013, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree No. 107/2013/NĐ-CP providing on sanctioning of administrative violations in atomic energy.

According to Article 15 of Decree No. 107/2013/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, fines for violations against provision on certificates of radiological workers are specified as follows:

1. A fine of between VND 3,000,000 and 6,000,000 for appointing employees without certificates in radiology to undertake one of the following jobs:

-  Being in charge of safety;

- Being in charge of decontamination;

- Operating particle accelerators;

- Operating irradiators

- Producing radioactive isotopes;

- Doing industrial radiographic work.

2. A fine of between VND 20,000,000 and 40,000,000 shall be imposed for organizations appointing employees without certificates in radiology to undertake one of the following jobs:

- Chief engineers of nuclear reactors;

- Foremen of nuclear reactors;

- Officers in charge of responding to radiation accidents or nuclear accidents;

- Nuclear fuel keepers;

 - Nuclear reactor operators.
