Vietnam: How is the reporting of the process of combination of traditional medicine and modern medicine carried out?

This is a notable content of Circular No. 50/2010/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam guiding the combination of traditional medicine and modern medicine in the process of examination and treatment.

According to Articles 8 and 9 of Circular No. 50/2010/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, the recording and reporting process of combining traditional medicine with modern medicine in examination and treatment are prescribed as follows:

* Recording of the combination of traditional medicine and modern medicine in the process of examination and treatment

The person responsible for combining traditional medicine with modern medicine must record the combination as follows:

- For inpatient cases: record in the "Treatment methods" section of the summary of the inpatient medical record.

- For outpatient cases: record in the outpatient medical record summary or the patient's clinic record.

* Reporting of combination of traditional medicine and modern medicine in the process of examination and treatment for healthcare facilities:

The reporting of combination of traditional medicine and modern medicine in the process of examination and treatment for healthcare facilities shall be carried out as follows:

- Traditional medicine hospitals and other hospitals shall report the combination of traditional medicine with modern medicine annually according to the regulations in the Hospital Checklist issued by the Minister of Health.

- Other healthcare facilities are responsible for reporting the combination of traditional medicine with modern medicine to the Department of Health or the Health sector (Appendix attached to this Circular). The Department of Health or the Health sector shall compile the reports and send them to the Ministry of Health (Department of Management of Examination and Treatment and Traditional Medicine Department) before December 15th every year (data for one year is calculated from October 1st to September 30th of the following year).

- Annually, the Department of Management of Examination and Treatment shall serve as the focal point and coordinate with the Traditional Medicine Department to compile a report for the leadership of the Ministry of Health on the combination of traditional medicine with modern medicine in the process of examination and treatment. At the same time, the report is submitted to the Planning and Finance Department for inclusion in the general statistics of the sector.
