Vietnam: How do universities assess and evaluate student affairs themselves?

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 39/2010/TT-BGDDT providing for the assessment and classification of student activities at universities, colleges, and professional intermediate schools. The circular includes regulations on the process of self-assessment and classification of student work at these institutions.

How do universities assess and evaluate student affairs themselves? (Illustration)

Article 16 Circular 39/2010/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnamstipulates that the assessment and classification of student affairs work by the school should be conducted as follows:

1. Establishment of the Student Affairs Evaluation Committee:

The Head of the Committee is the Principal (or the Vice Principal authorized by the Principal). The Standing member is the Leader of the Student Affairs Office. Other members include the school's leadership, representatives of the Leadership of the Training Office, the Examination and Quality Assurance Office; representatives from the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the President of the Student Union, the President of the Youth Union (if any); representatives of the leadership in charge of the dormitory, medical affairs, sports; representatives of the leadership and Student Affairs Assistants from faculties; and other related functional units.

2. Student Affairs Evaluation Committee:

- Conduct self-assessment and classification of the school's student affairs work according to the evaluation standards for student affairs work and the Self-assessment and Classification Form (Appendix attached);

- Compile results according to the Self-assessment and Classification Form (Appendix attached) and send them to the ministries and central authorities, the school management body, and the Ministry of Education and Training.
