Vietnam: Assessment and evaluation methods for student affairs at universities

This is a notable content in Circular 39/2010/TT-BGDDT stipulating the evaluation and classification of student affairs in universities, colleges, and vocational schools issued by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.

Article 15 of Circular 39/2010/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam prescribes the self-assessment and classification methods for student affairs work in universities, colleges, and professional secondary schools as follows:

- The school conducts self-assessment of student affairs work by evaluating and scoring the content of each criterion.

- The scoring of each content within the criteria is based on the consideration of related evidence, specific conditions of the school, and according to the guidelines in the appendix attached to this document.

- The score for each content in the criteria specified in Chapter II of this document is a maximum of 2.5 points (rounded to 0.05=5%). The total maximum score for 40 contents of the criteria is 100 points.

- Based on the score for each content of the criteria and the total score, the classification of student affairs work of the school is as follows:

+ Excellent: total score from 90 points to 100 points, each content of the criteria must achieve at least 2 points;

+ Good: total score from 80 points or more; contents of the criteria from Standard 1 to Standard 9 must achieve at least 1 point but not classified as excellent;

+ Fair: total score from 70 points or more but not classified higher;

+ Average: total score from 50 points or more but not classified higher;

+ Not achieved: total score below 50 points.
