Vietnam: How do ministries coordinate to control the entry and exit of foreigners?

Ministries shall coordinate in controlling entry, exit, and transit of foreigners in Vietnam according to the provisions of Article 8 of Decree No. 64/2015/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, specifically as follows:

Firstly, the Ministry of Public Security is responsible for exchanging and providing to the Ministry of National Defense:

- Information and documents serving immigration control at the border gate;

- List and data of foreigners whose entry has not been granted or whose exit has been postponed;

- Sample stamp to verify entry, exit and temporary residence certificate; 

- List and data of passports or documents valid for international travel; Valuable documents for entry, exit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam are lost or their use value is destroyed.

Secondly, the Ministry of National Defense is responsible for exchanging and providing to the Ministry of Public Security:

- Situation of foreigners entering, leaving, and transiting; Foreigners violating the law or in questionable or complicated cases at border gates managed by the Ministry of National Defense;

- Information on foreign personnel entering and exiting through border gates managed by the Ministry of National Defense;

- Sample of entry and exit verification stamps, temporary residence certificates issued to controllers and controller codes at immigration control units under the Ministry of National Defense.

Thirdly, the Ministry of National Defense presides over and coordinates with the Ministry of Public Security to organize training for controllers at immigration control units under the Ministry of National Defense when there are new legal documents and instructions related to immigration management and control.
