This is one of the important contents stipulated in Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT on Technical Regulations for the Establishment of Administrative Maps at All Levels, promulgated on August 22, 2014.
Contents on technical editing of state administrative maps (Illustrative Image)
Article 15 of Circular 47/2014/TT-BTNMT regulates that the technical editing of state administrative maps is carried out as follows:
- Technical editing is based on the study of the content and technical requirements of scientific editing that have been approved.
- Technical editing includes the following content:
- Collecting and evaluating documents;- Developing a detailed editing plan;- Designing a symbol library, classifying content elements.
Regarding the collection and evaluation of documents, it is regulated as follows:
- Collecting documents according to the approved scientific editing outline.- Evaluating to identify appropriate usage plans according to the regulations of the scientific editing outline.
Regarding the development of a detailed editing plan, it is regulated as follows:
- A detailed editing plan to guide the implementation of content editing and presentation for each map based on the regulations of the scientific editing outline.
- The detailed editing plan includes the following content:
- Plans for processing and using existing documents;- Identifying missing documents or information that needs to be collected and supplemented in the field;- Specifying the indicators to represent the content on the administrative map suitable to the geographic characteristics of each geographic area of the map.
Regarding the design of the symbol library and classification of content elements, it is regulated as follows:
- The symbol library design must ensure the following requirements:
- The system of symbols used to present the map is designed in the map creation editing environment;- The designed symbols must comply with the templates specified in Appendices 2, 3, 6, and 7 issued with this Circular;- For content elements not specified in Appendices 2, 3, 6, and 7 issued with this Circular, additional symbols need to be designed. The additionally designed symbols must ensure aesthetics and harmony according to the templates in Appendices 2, 3, 6, and 7 issued with this Circular.
- Designing a symbol library, classifying content elements, and storing data directory ensuring completeness, logic, convenience in editing operations and data retrieval, and suitability with the map creation editing environment.
- The symbol library, classification of content elements used to build the digital author map of the state administrative map is applied according to technical standards issued by the competent state authority. Other administrative maps are encouraged to apply this technical standard.
