Tasks of Several Professional Titles in Rehabilitation

Currently, rehabilitation (PHCN) is a process of providing assistance to patients and individuals with disabilities through medical methods, PHCN techniques, educational and social measures to minimize the impact of disabilities, giving patients equal opportunities to participate in social activities and integrate into the community.

Professional titles in rehabilitation must perform tasks as stipulated in Circular 46/2013/TT-BYT, for example:

- Rehabilitation specialist doctor is a doctor who has been trained in rehabilitation specialization and has been granted a practice certificate in medical examination and treatment related to rehabilitation as prescribed by law.

- The rehabilitation specialist doctor has the task of examining, diagnosing diseases, prescribing treatments, and rehabilitating patients.

- Rehabilitation specialist assistant is an assistant who has been trained in rehabilitation specialization and has been granted a practice certificate in medical examination and treatment related to rehabilitation as prescribed by law.

- The rehabilitation specialist assistant has the task of supporting the doctor in diagnosing diseases, prescribing rehabilitation, implementing medical records policies; developing plans and rehabilitating patients. For localities lacking rehabilitation specialist doctors, the Director of the Department of Health may stipulate that a rehabilitation specialist assistant with at least 24 months of experience in medical examination and treatment can diagnose diseases and prescribe rehabilitation. This regulation must be expressed in writing (decision) by the Director of the Department of Health.

- Medical engineering bachelor is a person trained in the field of physical therapy and occupational therapy at the university level.

- The medical engineering bachelor has the task of supporting the rehabilitation specialist doctor in diagnosing diseases, developing plans, and performing rehabilitation for patients.
