Supportive Medications for Military Branches in the Ministry of Defense

Circular 187/2017/TT-BQP was issued by the Ministry of National Defense on August 09, 2017, to provide detailed regulations on supplementary drugs for military forces within the Ministry of National Defense.

Circular 187 regulates supplementary medication for the military and corps in the Ministry of National Defence as follows:

- Scope of assurance: Assured beyond the standard medication for regular medical examination and treatment, beyond the scope covered by health insurance for units that have participated in health insurance; aimed at disease prevention, protection, and enhancement of health for subjects directly performing duties in strenuous, hazardous, and dangerous conditions.- Subjects assured in the following specific cases:- Commandos, reconnaissance, intelligence, pilots, air mechanics, airborne communicators, aerial radio - radar surveillance operators, divers: Individuals directly carrying out training and combat missions in the military and corps within the Army;- Electronic reconnaissance, radar operators: Individuals directly engaging in operation, use, training, and combat missions in the military and corps within the Army;- Border areas: Individuals assigned to units in economically - socially especially difficult border areas;- Near-shore islands, surface ship soldiers: Individuals assigned to near-shore islands, surface ships;- Occupational diseases, military-specific hazards: Individuals under the list of occupations, heavy, hazardous, dangerous work, and extremely heavy, hazardous, dangerous work in the Army as regulated by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs;- Truong Sa-DK soldiers: Individuals assigned to island points, rig houses, direct duty ships in Truong Sa-DK;- Border soldiers: Individuals assigned to Border Guard posts.

In cases where one person falls into multiple assured categories, they are entitled to the highest standard.

Before June 1 each year, unit medical officers report the number of subjects entitled according to Clause 3 of this Article; after this period, in case of a change in personnel, unit medical officers report additional numbers to higher-level medical officers directly up to the Military Medical Department.

- The assurance method is regulated by Circular 185 as follows:- Unit medical officers assure by providing supplementary medication, suitable to the specific military needs of each subject;- In case supplementary medication cannot be purchased, assure by providing functional foods with the same ingredients and effects.
