Skills Required Upon Graduation from the College Level Forest Resource Management Program

On February 10, 2019, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (BLDTBXH) regulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary medicine, will take effect.

According to the Regulations on the minimum volume of knowledge, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the field of Forest Resource Management issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum skills that college graduates in forest resource management must achieve are as follows:

- Update, share new information and technologies in the field of forest resource management to efficiently perform assigned tasks;- Recognize common animal and plant species in the forest that have economic and conservation values;- Measure actual area in the field;- Identify forest positions on maps and in the field;- Proficiently use handheld GPS to identify the position, coordinates, and area of the forest plot under construction or investigation;- Develop and implement plans and measures to propagate the value and benefits of forests, and essential legal documents on forest management, protection, and development to the public;- Develop and carry out basic tasks in local forest resource development planning;- Perform tasks related to forestry tree species monitoring and forest environmental service payment monitoring at localities according to regulations;- Carry out tasks in forest inventory and monitor, update changes in forest resources locally;- Develop and implement measures to prevent pests from harming nurseries and forests according to technical procedures effectively;- Develop and implement effective forest fire prevention and control measures;- Develop plans to conserve and develop rare and precious animal and plant species;- Effectively carry out conservation tasks for rare and precious forest animal and plant species;- Design and implement technical measures in forest development according to technical requirements;- Manage the exploitation of forest products according to technical procedures and legal regulations;- Proficiently use chainsaws in timber and forest product harvesting;- Handle violations of regulations on forest management, protection, harvesting, and development according to legal procedures and regulations;- Use basic information technology according to regulations; exploit, process, and apply information technology in professional tasks;- Use basic foreign language skills, achieving level 2/6 in the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework; apply foreign language skills to professional tasks.
