Schedule of Crew Allocation for Passenger Transport Vessels in Vietnam

Circular 04/2017/TT-BGTVT, which was issued on January 20, 2017, amends Circular 47/2015/TT-BGTVT. One of the key contents of this Circular is the amendment regulation on the Schedule of Crew Allocation for passenger transport vessels in Vietnam, which was previously regulated in Circular 47/2015/TT-BGTVT.

The schedule of crew allocation for passenger transport vessels in Vietnam has been amended and supplemented as follows:

Vessels equipped with outboard engines with a total main engine capacity up to 150 horsepower, or with inboard engines with a total main engine capacity up to 50 horsepower, are not required to appoint the position of chief engineer or assistant engineer. However, the captain or chief mate must hold a first-class mechanic certificate.

Vessels equipped with outboard engines with a total main engine capacity over 150 horsepower up to 400 horsepower are not required to appoint the position of chief engineer or assistant engineer. However, the captain or chief mate must hold a certificate or diploma showing competency as a chief engineer appropriate to the total main engine capacity.

Refer to Circular 04/2017/TT-BGTVT effective March 15, 2017, which amends and supplements several provisions of Circular 47/2015/TT-BGTVT.
