Schedule of Crew Allocation for Cargo Vessels in Vietnam

Below is the content previously stipulated in Circular 47/2015/TT-BGTVT amended and supplemented by Circular 04/2017/TT-BGTVT, which was issued on January 20, 2017 in Vietnam.

According to Clause 5, Article 1 of Circular 04/2017/TT-BGTVT, which amends and supplements Article 19 of Circular 47/2015/TT-BGTVT, the schedule of crew allocation for cargo vessels in Vietnam is stipulated as follows:

Vessels with an outboard engine with a total main engine power of up to 150 horsepower or an inboard engine with a total main engine power of up to 50 horsepower are not required to assign the position of chief engineer or assistant engineer, but the captain or first officer must have a first-class mechanic certificate.

Vessels with an outboard engine with a total main engine power of over 150 horsepower up to 400 horsepower are not required to assign a chief engineer or assistant engineer, but the captain or first officer must have a certificate or certificate of competency as a chief engineer appropriate to the total main engine power.
