What responsibilities do employees need to have when they go to work abroad under contract? (Illustrative image)
At Clause 2, Article 6 of the Draft Law on Vietnamese Employees Working Abroad under Contract (Revised) stipulates the obligations of Vietnamese employees working abroad under labor contracts as follows:
- Comply with Vietnamese laws and the laws of the receiving country;- Preserve and promote the cultural traditions of the Vietnamese nation; respect the customs and traditions of the receiving country; unite with workers from the receiving country and workers from other countries;- Proactively learn vocational skills, foreign languages, understand relevant legal regulations, and participate in orientation training before going to work abroad;- Pay the costs of working abroad to the enterprise or public service provider that sends them to work abroad according to the provisions of the law;- Work at the designated location, comply with labor discipline, labor rules, and obey the management, operation, and supervision of the foreign employer;- Return to Vietnam on time after the termination of the labor contract or internship contract as stipulated by the receiving country; be responsible for any damages caused by violating the signed contract according to Vietnamese law and the law of the receiving country;- Participate in social insurance, pay taxes according to Vietnamese law, and other forms of insurance as stipulated by the receiving country;- Contribute to the Overseas Employment Support Fund as stipulated by the law.
