Request for Re-issuance or Renewal of Permit for the Use of Military Weapons and Sporting Weapons

On October 24, 2014, the Ministry of Public Security issued Circular 50/2014/TT-BCA regulating the issuance, renewal, and reissuance of permits and certificates for weapons, explosives, and supporting tools.

Circular 50/2014/TT-BCA specifies the documentation required and the timeframe for renewal and reissuance of permits for the use of military weapons and sporting weapons. The documentation includes:

- A written request for renewal or reissuance of a permit for the use of military weapons and sporting weapons from the equipped agency, organization, or unit. The content of the document must clearly state the reason for renewal or reissuance; the number of permits to be renewed or reissued; the type, serial number, and identification of each type of military weapon and sporting weapon. In case of loss of the permit, a detailed explanation of remedial actions taken must be provided.- A letter of introduction and the People's Identification Card or People's Police Identification Card of the individual designated by the agency, organization, or unit to complete the procedures.

The timeframe for renewal or reissuance of permits for the use of military weapons and sporting weapons shall not exceed 10 working days from the date of receipt of complete and valid documentation.

Additionally, this circular stipulates the documentation required for requesting a permit for weapon repair, which includes: a written request for weapon repair; the content of the document must clearly state the type, brand, serial number, and identification of each type of weapon to be repaired; the quantity and parts needing repair; the facility conducting the repairs; the address, and repair duration; a letter of introduction and the People's Identification Card or People's Police Identification Card of the individual designated by the agency, organization, or unit to complete the procedures.

Note: Within 5 working days from the date of receipt of complete and valid documentation, the Public Security agency that issued the weapon use permit must review and issue the weapon repair permit to the requesting agency, organization, or unit. The validity period of the weapon repair permit is 30 days. In cases where weapons need to be transported to the repair location, the weapon repair permit also serves as the transport permit.
