Procedure for Recognition of the Title "Child-friendly Hospital"

On October 31, 2016, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 38/2016/TT-BYT stipulating certain measures to promote breastfeeding at medical examination and treatment facilities.

Recognition of the title "Baby-Friendly Hospital" is guided by Circular 38/2016/TT-BYT as follows:

- For hospitals under the Ministry of Health, hospitals under the health sector of other ministries: The Department of Maternal and Child Health compiles, considers, and submits to the Minister of Health to annually announce the list of hospitals that achieve the title "Baby-Friendly Hospital."- For hospitals under the Department of Health: The Ministry of Health will compile them into a general list of “Baby-Friendly Hospitals” annually for monitoring and evaluation.- Recognition of the title "Baby-Friendly Hospital" is the basis for assessing the level of task completion and serves as a basis for awarding annual emulation and commendation titles to hospitals.- The Ministry of Health organizes random inspection teams to check the implementation of the title "Baby-Friendly Hospital" and notifies the hospital and the provincial/municipal Department of Health directly under the central government about hospitals that do not meet the standards. At the same time, it proposes to remove hospitals that do not meet the standards from the general annual list of “Baby-Friendly Hospitals.”
