Overview and Requirements on Responsibilities of Plant Protection Sector at College Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) issued Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation from intermediate or college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary science.

According to the regulation on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate, college-level training in the plant protection sector, issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the college-level plant protection sector is a field that includes training contents such as: Soil, fertilizers, living environment, planting and crop care techniques, deep research and experimentation on pest, plant disease knowledge, pest management and prevention measures on crops, and other related works, fulfilling level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

The tasks of the profession range from protecting crops in the field to research work, organizing production and trading plant protection products. Plant protection professionals can work in farms, agricultural households, cooperatives, companies producing and trading plant protection products, and in agencies, organizations related to plant protection.

Note that the minimum volume of knowledge required is 1800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).

Additionally, regulations on the minimum level of autonomy and responsibility that learners must achieve after graduating from the college-level plant protection sector are as follows:

- Possess good moral qualities and correct awareness of the profession, cooperate with colleagues, respect the law and regulations at the workplace;- Be honest and highly disciplined, ready to undertake assigned tasks;- Have a sense of civic responsibility, discipline, and industrial working style, professional labor skills, and be capable of teamwork;- Apply scientific, creative working methods and continuously update information.
