Guidelines on Types of Awards in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On November 1, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued Circular 03/2018/TT-BNG to provide guidance on the types of commendations within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Circular 03 stipulates the types of commendation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including:

- Commendation for meritorious service and achievements is a form of commendation for collectives or individuals with outstanding achievements or those who have excellently completed the assigned tasks, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.- Periodic or thematic commendation is given to collectives or individuals who have achieved outstanding results after finishing an emulation period initiated by the President, the Prime Minister, or the Minister.- Extraordinary commendation is given to collectives or individuals who have achieved unexpected accomplishments.

In which:

- An unexpected achievement is an accomplishment obtained outside the program, plan, or duty that the collective or individual must undertake.

- A particularly outstanding unexpected achievement is one obtained at a particularly excellent level when courageously saving people, protecting the assets of the people and the State, or during combat, service in combat, or achieving special accomplishments in the fields of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recognized regionally or globally.

- Commendation for the process of contribution is given to individuals participating in revolutionary activities during various stages, holding leadership or management positions in state agencies, public service providers, political organizations, or political - social organizations, with meritorious service, outstanding achievements, and contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Communist Party and the nation.- Foreign commendation is given to individuals, foreign organizations, and international organizations that have contributed to the construction and defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in areas such as politics, economy, culture, society, security, defense, diplomacy, or other fields.
