General Introduction and Available Job Positions for the Forest Protection Sector at College Level

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) issued Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation from intermediate or college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary science.

Pursuant to the Regulation on Minimum Knowledge Volume, Competency Requirements that Learners Must Achieve Upon Graduation at Intermediate and College Level for Forest Protection, issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the forest protection sector at college level is responsible for forest management and protection; propagating, disseminating, and enforcing forestry laws; forest fire prevention and fighting; monitoring forest resource developments, meeting Level 5 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Forest protection workers are typically arranged to work at district-level forest protection units, protective forest units, special-use forest units, regional forest protection agencies, forest boundary check stations, local forest protection stations, or as specialists in various departments at provincial forest protection agencies, provincial sub-departments of forest protection, and government forestry management authorities.

Note that the minimum knowledge amount is 1800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).

Additionally, upon graduation, learners have the competency to meet job position requirements in the sector, including:

- Propagating and disseminating forestry laws;- Conserving forest plants and wildlife;- Forest fire prevention and fighting;- Preventing forest pests and diseases;- Enforcing forestry laws;- Forest development;- Monitoring forest resource developments.

Moreover, the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating in Forest Protection at the college level can be expanded to higher levels. Graduates have the capability for self-learning, updating scientific and technological advancements within the sector to enhance their skills or pursue higher-level studies in the same sector, group of sectors, or related fields.
