Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 147/2007/ND-CP on the dissolution of Phuoc Thang Commune, and the adjustment of administrative boundaries of Phuoc Tien, Chinh Dai, and Thang Communes in Ninh Thuan in Vietnam.

Decree 147/2007/ND-CP stipulates the establishment of Phuoc Thang (new) commune under Bac Ai district based on the adjustment of 1,471.21 hectares of natural area from Phuoc Chinh commune; 3,259.39 hectares of natural area from Phuoc Tien commune; 3,149 population from Phuoc Thang commune (dissolved). To be specific:
- The new Phuoc Thang commune has a natural area of 4,730.60 hectares and a population of 3,149.- The administrative boundaries of the new Phuoc Thang commune: East borders Phuoc Dai commune and Phuoc Chinh commune; West borders Phuoc Tien commune; South borders Ninh Son district; North borders Phuoc Tien commune.
Thus, after adjusting the administrative boundaries in Vietnam as follows:
- Phuoc Chinh commune remains with a natural area of 6,534.22 hectares and a population of 1,387;- Phuoc Tien commune remains with a natural area of 7,616.61 hectares and a population of 3,020.
Bac Ai district has a natural area of 102,753.32 hectares and a population of 21,764, comprising 9 affiliated administrative units, including the communes: Phuoc Dai, Phuoc Chinh, Phuoc Thang (new), Phuoc Thanh, Phuoc Tan, Phuoc Tien, Phuoc Trung, Phuoc Hoa, Phuoc Binh.
