Brief Introduction to the Agricultural and Forestry Extension Industry at College Level

Recently, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) promulgated Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at intermediate and college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fishery, and veterinary medicine.

According to the regulations on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from the intermediate and college levels in the Agricultural Extension Forestry sector, issued in conjunction with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the college-level Agricultural Extension Forestry sector is defined as a profession that organizes the implementation of propaganda, dissemination of knowledge, training, coaching, and advisory support for farmers to promote the development of agricultural, forestry, and fishery production, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework.

Graduates will be capable of performing the following main tasks: Organizing, managing, and disseminating information on the guidelines and directions of the Communist Party, policies, and laws of the state in agricultural and forestry production to the people; researching, developing, and disseminating technical, scientific, and technological advances, as well as exemplary models in agricultural, forestry, and fishery production and business; organizing, managing, and implementing training, coaching, and education for farmers on production skills, organizing, and managing production and business in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and fishery; researching, proposing, and organizing the implementation of demonstration models and scaling up scientific and technological advancements suitable to each locality, the needs of producers, and the orientation of the sector, models of production practices linked with product consumption; providing advisory services on rural agricultural production and services.

Notably, the minimum volume of knowledge is 1800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).
