Amendments to regulations on military admissions in Vietnam

The General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (the General Staff) has organized the January 2023 briefing conference.

After hearing reports and opinions, concluding the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Member of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee, Chief of the General Staff, Deputy Minister of National Defense, praised the achievements of the entire army as well as the General Staff in recent times.

At the same time, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested: In February 2023, the General Staff needs to continue to focus on effectively implementing military and defense tasks.

The General Staff directed units to strictly maintain combat readiness policies; monitor the situation closely, promptly advise, effectively handle situations, and not be passive or surprised.

Directed agencies and units to strictly maintain discipline, thoroughly understand and comply with state laws, military discipline, ensuring safety in traffic participation.

The General Staff quickly deployed guidance, directed units, and localities to perform well in the 2023 conscription and reception work; complete training and refresher preparation for officers at all levels; guide field training for new soldiers.

Units across the army need to strictly implement resolutions and directives from higher authorities on improving training quality; ensure training grounds, fields, models, and learning materials for new soldier training.

The General Staff develops plans, focusing on inspecting training work in some military regions and corps.

Thorough preparation to organize a good military admission conference

Regarding training at military schools, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested that the Department of Schools prepare thoroughly to organize a good admission conference; advise on amending certain points in the circular on military admission to suit.

Research procedures for organizing and merging certain schools; dissolve some vocational schools; preside, cooperate with schools, agencies, and units to advise and propose the opening of training disciplines suitable to manpower needs.

Local militia and self-defense work and local military work need to be focused. The General Staff needs to direct the Department of Militia and Self-Defense, and military agencies in localities, to organize militia training strictly and effectively; propose appropriate policies for the militia and self-defense forces....
