Issuing the timeline for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool, general education, and continuing education nationwide as follows:

1. The earliest school start date is one week before the official opening ceremony. For Grade 1, the earliest start date is two weeks before the official opening ceremony.

2. The official opening ceremony day is on September 5, 2024.

3. The first semester ends before January 18, 2025, and the academic year ends before May 31, 2025.

4. Recognition of completion of the primary education program and recognition of lower secondary graduation before June 30, 2025.

5. Enrollment in the first grades completes before July 31, 2025.

6. The high school graduation exam in 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.

7. Other national exams are organized according to the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.

According to Article 3 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024:

Responsibilities for Implementation

1. The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee decides:

a) The school year timeline for preschool, general education, and continuing education appropriate to the local reality.

b) The early start date of the school year and the extended duration of the school year not exceeding 15 days compared to the regulations in Article 1 of this Decision to ensure the implementation and completion of preschool, general education, and continuing education programs in case of natural disasters or epidemics; in special cases, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

2. The Director of the Department of Education and Training:

a) Decides to let students take days off in case of severe weather, natural disasters, and arranges compensatory lessons; ensuring teachers' rest time in the school year.

b) Reports to the Ministry of Education and Training on:

- The preparation status for the new school year and the organization of the new school year opening ceremony before September 10, 2024;

- Summarizes the implementation of duties, key solutions for the school year 2024-2025, and results of achieving emulation criteria, proposes rewards for the school year before June 25, 2025.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee will decide the specific school year timeline for Grade 8 students in each locality.
