What are goals of the literacy eradication program issued by the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam?
Based on Section 2, Part 1 of the Literacy Eradication Program issued with Circular 33/2021/TT-BGDDT, the goals of the Literacy Eradication Program are to provide students with the basic and essential knowledge and skills aimed at:
- Helping students form and develop essential qualities with specific manifestations: love for the homeland and country, awareness of preserving the national cultural identity, sense of responsibility towards oneself, family, and community.
- Helping students initially form general competencies and develop language skills in all aspects of reading, writing, speaking, and listening at a basic level: reading texts correctly and fluently; understanding the content and main information of the text; relating and comparing outside the text; writing according to correct grammar and spelling; writing sentences, paragraphs, and short essays; speaking clearly; listening and comprehending the speaker's opinions.
- Contributing to the formation and development of mathematical abilities with the required goals: performing simple thinking operations, selecting mathematical operations and formulas to present and express contents, ideas, and ways to solve problems; using mathematical language, simple tools, and means to perform basic mathematical learning tasks.
- Helping students gradually form and develop natural science abilities through observation and experimentation, applying comprehensive knowledge and skills to solve real-life problems; respecting the laws of nature, behaving appropriately with nature to meet the requirements of sustainable environmental and social development.
Forming and developing social science abilities through understanding social science, exploring society, and applying learned knowledge and skills to understand, discover oneself, the community, society, analyzing and solving social issues.
- Helping students form and develop technology and informatics abilities through activities such as understanding technology, using technology, managing information and communication technology tools and means, applying information and communication technology in learning and self-study.

What are requirements for essential qualities of students in the Literacy Eradication Program in Vietnam?
Based on Section 2, Part 1 of the Literacy Eradication Program issued with Circular 33/2021/TT-BGDDT, the Literacy Eradication Program forms and develops the following essential qualities in students: patriotism, humanity, diligence, honesty, responsibility.

What are regulations on to stages of the Literacy Eradication Program in Vietnam?
Based on Section 3, Part 1 of the Literacy Eradication Program issued with Circular 33/2021/TT-BGDDT, the Literacy Eradication Program is divided into two stages:
Stage 1: Includes 03 subjects (Vietnamese, Mathematics, Natural and Social Sciences). The total duration is 1,005 periods; divided into 03 terms (Term 1, Term 2, Term 3).
Stage 2: Includes 04 subjects (Vietnamese, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography). The total duration is 949 periods; divided into 02 terms (Term 4, Term 5). Term 5 includes elective study topics within the total duration of the subjects.
The total duration of the Literacy Eradication Program is 1,954 periods.
