What are the rules of the 7th Students' Startup Ideas Competition in 2024

Recently, on December 10, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training officially issued Decision 3953/QD-BGDDT in 2024 Download guiding the Rules of the 7th Students' Startup Ideas Competition (SV_STARTUP- 7th edition).

Specifically, the rules of the 7th Students' Startup Ideas Competition are as follows:

(1) Participants and Eligibility

- Eligible participants include:

+ Students currently enrolled in higher education institutions and pedagogy colleges (collectively referred to as training institutions);

+ Upper secondary school students; lower secondary school students and those from Continuing Education Centers are encouraged to participate.

- Eligibility:

+ Register as a group or an individual (collectively referred to as the Competition Team); each individual can only register to join one Competition Team; each team can have a maximum of 5 members; Teams are not allowed to change members once the project is officially submitted and registered with the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

+ The product/service (or idea) of the team must not fall under prohibited categories and must not violate intellectual property rights as regulated by law.

(2) 5 Competition Categories

  1. Industry.

  2. Agriculture, forestry, aquaculture.

  3. Education, healthcare, culture, tourism.

  4. Financial services, banking.

  5. Social impact business.

(3) The Competition Comprises 3 Rounds

1. Local Round:

- Training institutions organize the competition or establish a Project Selection Council; each institution selects up to 5 projects to participate in the Semi-final and is responsible for the selection results.

- Departments of Education and Training organize the competition or establish a Project Selection Council; each Department can select up to 5 projects for the Semi-final; Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can select up to 10 projects for the Semi-final.

- Deadline for submitting project documents to the Ministry of Education and Training: Before 12:00 PM on January 5, 2025.

2. Semi-final Round:

- The Ministry of Education and Training establishes a Judging Panel to select: up to 50 student projects, 10 projects per field; up to 30 projects from junior and Upper secondary school students, 6 projects per field, to participate in the Final Round.

- Results are expected to be announced by the Ministry of Education and Training before January 20, 2025, at:

+ The Program's Fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/khoinghiepquocgiaHSSV.

3. Final Round:

- Expected to take place in April 2025.

- Teams will present and discuss their projects directly at booths for a maximum of 5 minutes. The Judging Panel will evaluate with a question-and-answer session of up to 10 minutes.

- The Judging Panel evaluates the results of 80 projects according to regulations.

- Awards are announced directly at the Closing and Award Ceremony during the National Student Startup Day – 7th edition.

What are the tasks regarding providing support in training in the Scheme to support students' startups by 2025 in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 2, Section 2 of Plan 1833/KH-BGDDT in 2024, the tasks regarding providing support in training in the Scheme to support students' startups by 2025 in Vietnam are as follows:

- Strengthen and develop a network of advisors and support staff for student startups within training institutions, career guidance networks, and startup support in high schools; provide guidance and effectively utilize the advisory workforce in developing local startup support programs.

- Advise on issuing a framework of skills, counsel, career guidance, and startup support to foster entrepreneurial spirit among students, appropriate to each educational level.

- Develop and provide materials offering knowledge and skills on counseling, career guidance, job placement, and startup support for students.

- Organize inspirational startup exchanges for students in training institutions and Departments of Education and Training.

- Conduct basic and intensive business startup and enterprise management training courses implementing the Small and Medium Enterprises Support Law 2017 for students and student startup groups.

- Organize technology counseling and support activities; advise on participating in sector clusters, value chains for small and medium enterprises following Decree 80/2021/ND-CP.

What are the objectives and requirements for implementing the Scheme to support students' startups by 2025 in Vietnam?

Under Section 1 of Plan 1833/KH-BGDDT in 2024, the objectives and requirements for implementing the Scheme to support students' startups by 2025 in Vietnam are as follows:

- Enhance communication efforts to raise awareness among students about startups, helping them proactively access the startup support ecosystem both inside and outside of the school environment.

- Support educational institutions and Departments of Education and Training in implementing the Scheme's tasks and solutions in-depth, focusing on changing the mindset and awareness of leadership at all levels, engaging staff, faculty, and school staff in building startup support models within educational institutions, tailored to the characteristics of each unit.

- Strengthen connectivity, change teaching methods, and provide entrepreneurship knowledge and skills training for students in educational institutions; promote creating an environment that supports research activities, forming startup projects through real-world experiences, prioritizing research, practical experience within corporate environments; continue to establish Startup Support Funds and community startup projects; actively transfer research results and intellectual properties of lecturers and students.

- Support educational institutions and Departments of Education and Training in connecting private investment resources to support startup activities in educational institutions.
