Under the regulations in the General Education Program issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, five core traits of 7th-grade students (lower secondary level) include:
(1) Patriotism
(2) Compassion
(3) Diligence
(4) Honesty
(5) Responsibility
Thus, patriotism is one of the five traits of 7th-grade students.

(1) Patriotism
- Actively participate in activities to protect nature.
- Have a consciousness to learn about the traditions of family, lineage, and homeland; actively study and train to promote these traditions.
- Be aware of protecting cultural heritage, actively engage in activities to protect and promote the value of cultural heritage.
(2) Compassion
Loving people
- Respect the dignity, health, and privacy of others.
- Oppose evil and wrongdoing; do not condone or participate in acts of violence; be ready to defend the disadvantaged and vulnerable,...
- Actively participate in charity and community service activities.
Respect for individual differences
- Respect differences in perception and personal styles of others.
- Respect the cultural diversity of ethnic groups within the Vietnamese national community and other ethnicities.
- Be empathetic and ready to help others.
(3) Diligence
Love of learning
- Always strive to achieve good results in learning.
- Enjoy reading books and newspapers and seeking information online to expand understanding.
- Be conscious of applying knowledge and skills learned in school, from books, and from other reliable sources to daily learning and life.
Industrious
- Participate in domestic work and production according to practical requirements, suitable to one's abilities and conditions.
- Always strive to achieve good results in labor at school and in the community.
- Be conscious of learning well in subjects and vocational guidance; have an understanding of a common profession.
(4) Honesty
- Consistency between words and actions.
- Seriously reflect on personal shortcomings and take responsibility for all one's words and actions.
- Respect the truth; defend good and righteousness in front of others; maintain objectivity and fairness in perception and behavior.
- Do not infringe on public property.
- Fight against dishonest behaviors in learning and life.
(5) Responsibility
Responsibility for self
- Develop habits of hygiene, physical training, and health care.
- Be conscious of preserving and using personal belongings reasonably.
- Be conscious of time-saving; use time wisely; formulate and execute reasonable learning and living policies.
- Do not blame others; be conscious of and find ways to remedy the consequences of one's actions.
Responsibility for family
- Be attentive to family affairs.
- Be conscious of saving personal and family expenditures.
Responsibility for school and society
- Be aware of community affairs; actively participate in collective and community service activities.
- Respect and comply with public regulations; obey traffic laws; be conscious during community and local festival participation.
- Oppose actions that do not conform to cultural norms and regulations in public places.
- Participate and connect with the Internet and social networks responsibly; do not enable bad actors to disseminate information that harms the honor of organizations, individuals, or cultural and social order and safety.
Responsibility for the environment
- Live harmoniously and friendly with nature.
- Be conscious of learning and ready to participate in activities for nature advocacy, care, and protection; oppose actions harmful to nature.
- Be conscious of learning and ready to participate in climate change advocacy and response activities.
