I am fortunate to live in a family filled with love and harmony. The most beloved and respected person is my grandmother. To me, she is like a summer rain that refreshes my childhood.

My grandmother is over seventy years old, as the old saying goes, this is the age "once rare." Though she has aged, she remains nimble and resilient. Her delicate face is full of the wrinkles of time and worries. She resembles a fragile, slender apricot tree, yet strong and steadfast. Her hair has long turned white. Her eyes look at me kindly. Her skinny hands, with veins and blood vessels clearly visible, still skillfully manage all the household chores.

My mother often tells me that my grandmother has had a tough life; when she was young, she took care of the household so that her husband could fight at ease, now she cares for the family so her children can strive forward, and then she nurtures her grandchildren to adulthood. So, she bears the burden of the family entirely on her own. At home, she is always the peacemaker, often saying: “At home, what is big should be seen as small, and what is small as non-existent, then everything will be fine.”

Despite her age, she diligently exercises every morning. She often scolds us young ones for studying too much and loving to sleep, exercising too little. Despite the countless household tasks, my grandmother actively participates in social activities. She joins the Ward Women's Association, the Reconciliation Association, the Charity Association… Everyone admires her, often coming to ask for and listen to her advice. Although not eloquent, her words are reasonable and convincing. Recently, a neighbor's house caught fire due to negligence, and she rallied everyone to help them through initial difficulties. I am genuinely proud of my grandmother. She lives simply and humbly. The family meals under her care feel so warm. She satisfies everyone with simple yet delicious, clean dishes. Although there is a washing machine, she still encourages everyone to hand wash before putting it in the machine, saying it would be cleaner that way.

The most profound memory is once when I had a fever. In a delirious fever, I stayed in the hospital for a week. She was always by my side; every time I suddenly awoke, I saw her worried eyes, her gentle, affectionate gestures, her encouraging, soothing words seemed stronger than medicine. I gradually recovered, and only then did I notice that in just a few days, her cheeks had sunken deeply, and her hair had turned much grayer. Deeply moved, I held her hand tightly, too choked up to speak.

I deeply love and am grateful to my grandmother. She will always be the one I revere the most. I hope she stays healthy and lives long with our family.

Everyone loves their family, cherishing the sweet persimmon scent of childhood spreading along a small riverside, loving the excited tail-wagging of a puppy, loving everything that seems delightful through the eyes of childhood—an innocent, naive time. My childhood is most closely tied to my maternal grandmother, so I love her the most.

When I was young, I thought all elderly women were kind like my grandmother. She cared for me, always by my side, guiding me into the magical world of fairy tales. My grandmother is still beautiful, a beauty that is gentle and mild. Her tall stature and wrinkled yet warm hands transmit a comforting warmth, filtering the purest droplets into my mind, from the world beyond our yard and garden. Facing the vast world into which I will spread my wings, she serves as a fragile shield warding off evil, steering me rightly, a steadfast navigator directing my mind toward goodness, is also many other precious things that creation has given me.

I still vividly recall every gesture of hers, the squint-eyed smile, the comforting pats... If in this life I forget those things, it would mean forgetting my childhood, the past, happiness, and joy. Only beside her do I hear the ocean's waves, the calls of swallows amidst the rustling leaves in a golden sky. The treasure troves of knowledge she unveils for me will further open my love for the country, people, and homeland.

As a life truth, she, my beacon of light, will always hold an important place in the heart of this dutiful grandchild.

In each person's life, there is always a place to return to after all the difficulties and fatigue. Some call it home, some call it a warm nest, a family, but most importantly, it’s where someone you love, trust, and is a refuge resides. For me, that person is my grandmother, a revered grandmother.

The days spent beside her were days of pestering her to buy me the candy I liked, times when bullied, always having her shelter and protect, days picking out gray hairs would earn candy and sweets as compensation. On holidays, the Mid-Autumn Festival, I would run to my grandmother's because I knew she would give me delicious and unique dishes my mother never cooked. To me, the dishes cooked by my grandmother are the best in the world because she doesn't cook with ordinary spices but with love, joy, and happiness when her grandchildren are around asking her to cook a meal.

Grandmother lives alone, not because my family doesn’t live together but because she says she likes living alone as it allows her to do whatever she pleases without bothering anyone or being bothered by anyone. I know she only says that, but she is really lonely, afraid of troubling her children and grandchildren, hence her insistence. Grandmother behaves like a child; I've heard people say that when aging, people's temperament becomes childlike. Like when I’m far away studying, she would call daily, expressing her longing for me to come back. It would be normal if she didn’t make nearly 50 calls a day just saying the same thing. She also gets unreasonable and petty if I cook for my parents and not for her, or if I don’t spend much time with her when home. She seems unwilling for me to be apart, wanting me to remain by her side, and all these things I realize, acknowledging her loneliness, her fear of being alone, the emptiness and silence at her house.

Grandmother has aged, her hair entirely white, toothless, yet still very healthy despite numerous ailments. Don't think it's contradictory, for she still manages to trade, take care of herself, carry heavy objects normally, perhaps because she is accustomed to farming, carrying goods all her life, making her this sturdy. At times of weather changes, she suffers from joint pains, the typical affliction of the elderly. Her joints may swell, but she endures it herself, buying medicines quietly without letting her children know. I often wonder if everyone, when aged, fears becoming a burden, fears uselessness. Yet why do they not realize they’ve borne a lifetime for their children, lived a life of hardship, so at life's end, during old age, they should rest and enjoy, leaving the harsh and hectic life for their children, their lifetime beneficiaries, to repay them as the natural law of love and respect.

Even now, I have so many things to tell her, but why do I struggle to say them? It seems words of hurt are easy to say, but words of affection are difficult. Ultimately, all care and love transform into actions; instead of verbal expression, I hope she can feel my intentions. "I love you, grandmother, I’ve grown up, let me take care of everything."

In the family, the person I am most attached to is my maternal grandmother. She is also the person I respect and love throughout my life.

My grandmother is sixty years old this year. She used to be a primary school teacher but is now retired. My grandmother has a slender figure. Her oval face bears the marks of time. Her long hair now has strands of white. But to me, she is still very beautiful. I love her radiant smile the most.

When I was little, my parents were often away on business trips. My grandmother looked after everything for me from meals to sleep. She often said there were times when I was sick, crying, making it hard for my mother to soothe. Only in her arms, I would calm down. She has always witnessed every step of my growth: my first steps, my first words… I remember sleeping with her, listening to her stories. Her storytelling voice was captivating. The fairy tales she told are still fresh in my memory.

Moreover, my grandmother has taught me many moral lessons. She taught me to respect everyone around me. She taught me to share with those in difficult situations. Thanks to her, I have also become more diligent in my studies. Anytime I encountered a difficult lesson, I would seek her help.

Grandmother - the person I love most in the world. I cannot measure the love she has showered upon me. I always wish she could be healthy to stay with me for a long time.
