The Ministry of Transport of Vietnam issued Circular No. 15/2016/TT-BGTVT on inland waterway management.
According to Circular No. 15/2016/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, inland water route refers to one or more navigation channels on rivers, lakes, lagoons, bay, islands, etc.; there are a total of 137 inland waterways (including rivers, canals, channels and creeks) divided into 3 North, Central and South regions:
- North: 49 routes with a total length of 2,935.4 km;
- Central: 27 routes with a total length of 1,167.5 km;
- South: 61 routes with a total length of 2,968.9 km.
Construction projects on maritime traffic safety shall be conducted in accordance with Circular No. 15/2016/TT-BGTVT.
