Promulgating the Regulation on Grassroots Information Activities

The Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam has just signed Decision 52/2016/QD-TTg on the issuance of the Regulations on grassroots information activities.

Local information activities refer to the activity of providing essential information to residents in communes, wards, and commune-level towns through broadcasting, public address systems of commune radio stations; local information bulletins, public notice boards, and other information activities.

According to the Regulations, local information activities must ensure the following principles:

- Comply with the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party, the laws of the State, and be consistent with the healthy customs and traditions of the locality;- Information provided to the citizens must be prompt and accurate, especially for people in rural areas, highland regions, remote areas, border areas, islands, and areas with difficult and especially difficult socio-economic conditions;- Funding for performing local information activities comes from the State budget, mobilized from organizations, individuals, and other lawful sources.

Decision 52/2016/QD-TTg takes effect from February 01, 2017.
