Expeditiously develop a model of the commune-level disaster prevention and control team according to Directive 18 of the Prime Minister of Vietnam

On July 09 2021, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Directive No. 18/CT-TTg on on developing, consolidating and improving the capacity of the voluntary forces to perform disaster management tasks in commune-level.

According to the Directive No. 18/CT-TTg, the Prime Minister of Vietnam requested the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as following:

- Organize, guide, inspect and urge the development, consolidation and improvement of the capacity and operational efficiency of the voluntary forces in localities; summarize the implementation results and report to the Government and the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

- Expeditiously develop and issue a set of professional training documents for the voluntary force; continue to coordinate with relevant localities and agencies to develop models of commune-level disaster prevention and control teams representing regions and direct the deployment and replication.

In addition, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam should coordinate with the Steering Committee to develop professional training documents for the voluntary force; to integrate training, equipping with knowledge and skills for natural disaster prevention and control in the training of militia and self-defense forces.
