Code Of Conduct for Artists to be issued officially in Vietnam

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam has just released Decision 3196/QD-BVHTTDL promulgating the Code of Conduct for Artists

Code Of Conduct for Artists has been issued

The code sets out the purpose of building standards of conduct in order to unify the perceptions and actions of not only art practitioners, agencies, organizations, and individuals related to the field of art but also the whole society in the spirit of "multiplying the good, eliminating the bad" in Vietnam.

Specifically, each activity and relationship will have its own code of conduct.

Code of conduct in relationships with the public and the audience

The Code of Conduct clearly stipulates that artists need to respect, listen to, and absorb valid opinions from the public and the audience in order to improve themselves and the quality of their artistic activities.

Behave sincerely, properly, and be friendly. Leave good impression of artists to the public and audience’s eyes.

In particular, artists are not prohibited from taking advantage of the beliefs and feelings of the public and the audience for personal benefits under any circumstance.

Code of conduct in professional activities

Artists must have the desire to dedicate themselves to the development of art, always look for new and interesting things to reflect life honestly and vividly; promote and enrich national culture.

Put the values ​​of truth - goodness - beauty as the goal and motivation to spread the spirit and mission of art, contributing to the formation of personality, the ideal of a good life, and the love of homeland and country among each person and society.

Constantly learn and cultivate knowledge, raise political awareness, professional qualifications, and professional skills; actively exploit new creative and experimental methods that are suitable for education and aesthetic orientation for the youth.

Acquire the world's artistic quintessence, selectively accept international and art trends in order to build and develop advanced Vietnamese art, and also promote and enrich national culture.

Consciously promote Vietnamese culture, country, and people, preserve international friendship and solidarity, avoid harming national interests, security and sovereignty, comply with the laws of the host country when participating in art activities abroad.

Preserve titles and images; choose and use appropriate costumes and make-up that are suitable for the purposes and content of artistic activities.

Fight against negative and deviant social behaviors; protect the purity of the Vietnamese language; and have appropriate awareness and perspectives on deviant expressions and the loss of national culture.

Besides, the artist needs to comply with the provisions of the Law on intellectual property; not to compose, circulate, disseminate or perform works with content which are inconsistent with the nation's moral, cultural, and traditional values, causing negative impacts on the public's ideology and aesthetics.

Code of conduct on press, media and internet

Artists need to comment properly, politely, and responsibly on issues of concern to the public; be honest in speaking, expressing, and sharing correct and objective views.

Do not post, share and spread content that violates the Law, false information, copyright infringement, unverified information; do not insult honor, personal dignity and affect, infringe the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

In addition, do not entice, instigate, incite, or create factions that cause division, disunity, infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of agencies, organizations, and individuals; causing harm to security, order, and interests of the country.

At the same time, do not use words that cause contradictions, conflicts or distinctions between regions, genders, beliefs and religions; do not use offensive language or images, which are contrary to fine customs...
