Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 15/2014/TT-BGDDT on the Regulation of Master’s Degree Training.
What are the duties and powers of master's degree training lecturers? (Illustrative image)
The Regulation on Master's Degree Training issued with Circular 15/2014/TT-BGDDT stipulates that master's degree training lecturers include full-time lecturers and visiting lecturers. They are assigned the tasks of teaching the subjects within the master's degree training program or guiding students in practice, internship, and the execution of master's thesis projects. The duties and rights of master's degree training lecturers are as follows:
Seriously and fully implement the training plans and programs, and comply with the current regulations of the training institution and the state related to master's degree training.
Regularly innovate teaching methods, improve training quality, and provide advice and assistance to students in studying and scientific research.
Continually enhance their own level, professional training, and expertise.
Enjoy policies for lecturers involved in master's degree training as stipulated by the state and the training institution.
Not self-organize or conduct tutoring, review guidance for the purpose of helping students prepare for admission exams into master's degree training.
Perform other duties and exercise other rights as prescribed by law.
In addition to the above-mentioned duties and rights, thesis supervisors for students have the following additional duties and rights:- Guide students in developing and implementing research plans for their topics;- Monitor, check, and urge students to conduct scientific research, practice, and internships as required by the topic;- Refuse supervision of students and notify the training institution in writing in cases such as: having already supervised the maximum number of students as stipulated in Points b, c Clause 1 Article 27 of this Regulation; if one month has passed since the decision to assign a supervisor without the student making contact, or if the student does not comply with the guidance or does not complete the research plan without a valid reason;- Confirm research results and approve students' theses; propose and take responsibility for recommending the training institution to allow students to defend their theses if they meet the prescribed requirements.
