Below are the provisions on fire prevention in the installation and use of electricity for domestic and production activities in Vietnam from July 1, 2025.

The National Assembly of Vietnam passed the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue 2024 on November 29, 2024.
According to Article 24 of the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue 2024, the regulations on fire prevention in the installation and use of electricity for domestic and production activities in Vietnam from July 1, 2025, are as follows:
(1) In the installation and use of electricity for domestic activities, the following fire safety conditions must be ensured:
- Compliance with safety regulations in the use of electricity for domestic activities according to the legal regulations on electricity;
- The retail electricity unit, when connecting residential electricity, must advise on the installation and use of systems and electrical equipment to ensure fire safety;
- The installation and use of electrical wires and equipment in the house must meet the requirements for electrical safety according to legal regulations; regularly inspect, promptly repair, and replace electrical wires and equipment that do not ensure fire safety;
- Only use charging devices for electric motor vehicles that meet national technical standards; the place for charging electric motor vehicles indoors must have solutions to ensure fire safety; areas for charging electric motor vehicles concentrated indoors must also have fire barriers and be equipped with appropriate fire-fighting equipment, meeting standards.
(2) In the installation and use of electricity for production activities, the following fire safety conditions must be ensured:
- Compliance with safety regulations in the use of electricity for production activities according to legal regulations on electricity and the provisions of point b and point c, clause 1, Article 26 of the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue 2024;
- Electrical equipment used in hazardous fire and explosion environments must be specialized equipment according to legal regulations.
(3) Organizations and individuals trading in electrical products and equipment are responsible for advising and providing information on the quality and technical specifications of products and equipment suitable for their intended use.
(4) The retail electricity unit is responsible for disseminating and guiding about the assurance of electrical safety in domestic and production activities and performing other tasks related to electrical safety according to legal regulations on electricity.
According to Article 20 of the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue 2024, fire prevention regulations for housing in Vietnam are as follows:
(1) Houses not belonging to the type specified in clause (3) and clause (4) must ensure the following fire safety conditions:
- Install and use electrical equipment ensuring fire safety conditions. To be specific:
The installation and use of electrical wires and equipment in the house must meet the requirements for electrical safety according to legal regulations; regularly inspect, promptly repair, and replace electrical wires and equipment that do not ensure fire safety;
- Arrange cooking stoves, places for worship, and burning votive papers to ensure safety; do not place flammable and explosive materials near fire sources or heat sources.
(2) Houses not belonging to the type specified in clause (3) and clause (4) must ensure the following conditions for fire fighting and escape:
- Have fire fighting and equipment appropriate to the capacity and actual conditions ready for fire fighting and escape;
- Arrange and maintain escape routes, emergency exits, or pathways to ensure evacuation.
(3) Houses with technical standards cited in legal normative documents or technical regulations on fire prevention, fighting, and rescue must comply with those standards and technical regulations.
(4) Houses listed in the management area for fire prevention and fighting must comply with the provisions of Article 23 of the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue 2024.
(5) For houses in centrally-affiliated cities in areas without assured traffic infrastructure or water sources for fire fighting according to legal regulations, technical standards in fire prevention, and fighting, must equip fire extinguishers, fire alert transmission devices connected to the Fire Fighting, Rescue, and Emergency Data System and transmit fire alerts according to the schedule specified by the Government of Vietnam.
For houses in other areas, it is encouraged to equip fire alert transmission devices connected to the Fire Fighting, Rescue, and Emergency Data System and transmit fire alerts.
The People's Committee of centrally-affiliated cities determines areas without assured traffic infrastructure or water sources for fire fighting.
(6) The Fire Prevention, Fighting Police, and Rescue force is responsible for guiding the connection of fire alert transmission devices with the Fire Fighting, Rescue, and Emergency Data System and transmitting fire alerts when required.
