Vietnam: New regulations on certificates and certifications for fishermen on fishing vessels

In 2018, Circular No. 22/2018/TT-BNNPTNT was promulgated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, stipulating regulations on crew members of fishing vessels and fishery service vessels.

Captain, chief mate, chief engineer, and fishing vessel mechanic must possess diplomas and certificates according to the following fishing vessel categories:

Note: Individuals possessing class I fishing vessel captain or chief engineer diplomas and certificates are qualified to hold class II and class III positions; individuals with class II diplomas and certificates are qualified to hold class III positions; individuals with class II fishing vessel captain diplomas and certificates are qualified to hold class I chief mate positions.
