Vietnam: Measures and forms of drug rehabilitation according to the Law on amendments to Law on Drug Prevention and Fight

The Law on amendments to a number of articles of Law on Drug Prevention and Fight in 2008 (hereinafter referred to as Law No. 16/2008/QH12) provides amendments to a number of articles of Law on Drug Prevention and Fight 2000 of Vietnam. A featured content of this Law is the completely new supplements regarding drug rehabilitation measures and forms of drug rehabilitation.

According to Clause 3 Article 1 of the Law No. 16/2008/QH12 of Vietnam, which supplements Article 26a after Article 26 of the Law on Drug Prevention and Fight 2000, drug rehabilitation measures consist of:

- Voluntary drug rehabilitation;

- Compulsory drug rehabilitation.

Forms of drug rehabilitation consist of:

- Home-based drug rehabilitation;

- Community-based drug rehabilitation;

- Drug rehabilitation in drug rehabilitation centers.

More amendments and supplements can be found in the Law No. 16/2008/QH12 of Vietnam, which takes effect from January 01, 2009.
