Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 13/2014/TT-BNV stipulating the codes and standards for professional titles of public employees specialized in archival in Vietnam.
Vietnam: Duties and standards regarding qualifications for Grade III Archivist (Illustrative image)
Article 5 of Circular 13/2014/TT-BNV specifically stipulates the duties and standards regarding qualifications for Grade III Archivist in Vietnam - Code: V.01.02.02 as follows:
- Regarding duties:
- Participate in the development of policies and regulations on archival work. Develop programs and plans for archival work of the agency or organization;
- Carry out archival professional operations (collection, classification, appraisal, preservation, restoration, reproduction, and insurance of archival materials);
- Participate in the development of professional guidelines for archival work at agencies and units;
- Participate in the development of professional procedures for archival activities;
- Participate in research projects, schemes, and scientific works at various levels;
- Perform other duties assigned by the head of the agency or unit.
- Standards regarding qualifications:
- Process a college diploma or higher in office administration and archival; if graduated from another field, have a certificate in retraining in archival;
- Have a foreign language certificate at Level 2 (or equivalent) according to the Vietnamese language competency framework;
- Have an informatics certificate meeting basic information technology skills.
