Vietnam: Conditions for workers to work abroad under contracts

Guest workers under contract means Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam who meet all the conditions prescribed by laws of Vietnam and the host country, and work abroad in accordance with this Law.

According to Article 42 of the Law on Vietnamese guest workers 2006 of Vietnam, workers may work abroad under contracts with enterprises, non-business organizations, organizations or individuals making offshore investment when they fully meet the following conditions:

1. Having full civil act capacity.

2. Willing to work abroad.

3. Observing law and having good moral qualities.

4. Having good health as provided for by Vietnamese law and required by the host country.

5. Meeting requirements on foreign language skills, technical and professional qualifications and other conditions of the workers-receiving country.

6. Having a certificate of possession of necessary knowledge.

7. Being not banned from exiting Vietnam under Vietnamese law.
