Technical Requirements for Fishing Vessel Design

Currently, the design of fishery vessels is understood as a standardized typical design that has been unified, possessing superior indices suitable for the profession and the sea area where fishery exploitation activities take place. The technical design of fishery vessels must fully illustrate essential data to demonstrate compliance with classification and shipbuilding regulations.

To be specific, below are the technical standards for the design of model fishery vessels as stipulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Circular 25/2014/TT-BNNPTNT:

- The design of the ship's hull, engine system, electrical equipment, firefighting equipment, lifesaving appliances, signaling devices, radio equipment, navigation equipment, and refrigeration equipment must satisfy the requirements according to the classification and construction standards for sea-going fishery vessels TCVN 6718: 2000.- The design of fishing equipment must meet the requirements in section 6B of the classification and construction standards for small sea-going fishery vessels TCVN 7111: 2002.- The design of sample fishery vessels must meet the installation layout requirements in accordance with specific fishing methods:

- For gillnetting, the installation of a hydraulic friction drum net hauler with an independent power drive, a radome for net observation, and lifting equipment is required;- For purse seining, the installation of lifting equipment, dual hydraulic-driven purse line reel, high-suspended hydraulic purse seine winder, and horizontal sonar is required;- For squid jigging, the installation of lifting equipment and a hydraulic or mechanical-driven purse line reel is required;- For longline fishing, the installation of a hydraulic-driven automatic longline hauler, an electrically controlled line shooter, and lifting equipment is required;- For fishery service vessels, the installation of lifting equipment is required.

- Lifting devices arranged on vessels for gillnetting, purse seining, squid jigging, longline fishing, and fishery service vessels must meet the requirements of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 23: 2010/BGTVT - regulations on maritime cargo lifting equipment. Refrigerated storage of products must ensure that the temperature in the cold storage is maintained according to the fishery exploitation practice, ensuring food safety and reducing post-harvest losses.- The design of model fishery vessels must be appropriate for the characteristics of each sea area where fishery exploitation activities take place.
