Structure of the Department of Microbiological Testing

The Ministry of Health issued Circular 33/2016/TT-BYT on September 19, 2016, specifying the organizational structure of the microbiology testing department.

Circular 33 stipulates that depending on specific conditions, hospitals can establish departments of Microbiology or Microbiology units within the Department of Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry - Microbiology, Department of Hematology - Microbiology, Department of Microbiology - Immunology, and assign personnel suitable to the given tasks.

The Microbiology Department must have the following main units:

- The unit for the production and storage of media, biological products, and chemicals used in testing;- The unit for processing specimens, storing biological products and chemicals, and autoclaving, disinfecting;- The bacterial testing unit (receiving specimens, staining, culturing, identification, antibiograms, immunology, molecular biology, strain or specimen preservation);- The viral testing unit (receiving specimens, immunology, molecular biology, strain or specimen preservation);- The parasitology testing unit (receiving specimens, staining, immunology, molecular biology, strain or specimen preservation).
