Some symbols used in the domain names of educational institutions (Illustrative Image)

To be specific, in Article 3 Circular 53/2012/TT-BGDDT, it is stipulated that the domain name of an educational management agency and an educational institution is the registered ownership name of that institution on the Internet. The domain names of educational management agencies and educational institutions in Vietnam must be level-two domain names, in the format edu.vn, and the domain names are used to establish email and electronic information pages, and electronic portals.

The specific domain names of educational management agencies are in the format ten-tinh.edu.vn and ten-huyen.edu.vn or tenhuyen-tenTinh.edu.vn when there is a repetition of district names among various provinces and cities. Educational institutions may or may not have their own domain names as they can share the domain name services of the Department of Education and Training or the Office of Education and Training.

Specifically, the domain names of educational institutions can use additional symbols:

For schools:

- C0: denotes a nursery school,- C1: denotes a primary school,- C2: denotes a lower secondary school,- C3: denotes an upper secondary school.

For multi-level schools:

- C12: denotes a school with both primary and lower secondary levels,- C23: denotes a school with both lower and upper secondary levels,- C123: denotes a school with primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary levels.

For educational centers:

- TX: denotes a Center for Continuing Education,- TH: denotes an Informatics Center,- TN: denotes a Foreign Language Center,- TNT: denotes a Foreign Language - Informatics Center,- TC: denotes a Community Education Center,- TK: denotes a General Technical - Vocational Center.

Note: The domain name of a school or center may include the district name and the province/city name. Domain names are intangible assets with legal value. Educational management agencies and educational institutions are responsible for purchasing their domain names through Internet service providers.
